Welcome to the November 2014 edition of the Ecommerce Templates Newsletter where we bring news of latest version and theme releases as well as some important security news.
You may have recently received emails from your payment provider or read online about the so called Poodle Vulnerability. Basically this is an exploitation that could allow hackers to extract data from apparently secure connections on web servers using older SSL 3.0.
Your Ecommerce Templates shopping cart software isn't directly affected as this is a hosting issue, and we do strongly recommend checking your SSL version. There are a number of online tools available such as s https://www.poodlescan.com where you can check. If a problem is detected you should contact your host and / or SSL certificate provider immediately with the results. Companies such as PayPal and authorize.net will shortly discontinue support for SSL 3.0 so it's doubly important that SSL 3.0 should be disabled as soon as possible.
ECT Version 6.4.2 was released on November 4 2014 ? it's a roundup of fixes and performance enhancements but does also include some extra features and functionality that you wouldn't want to miss out on.
All the input fields and labels on the billing and shipping stage of checkout have their own css classes. In the same way that Dazzle files can be uploaded to automatically update tracking numbers for USPS shipments, WorldShip files can now be uploaded for UPS shipments. The customer tracking number will be updated and status emails automatically sent. The search page has been improved to return more relevant matches first (say where the product name or id matches) without duplicating results.
