I am getting an error message every now and again (not all the time)when moving from my cart page to the Barclays Payment gateway page EPDQ.

Never had this issue before until I upgraded to version PHP v6.5.4 a few weeks ago.

Do I need a newer version of the Barclays customppsend.php the last one I downloaded was in Feb 2015

Here is a screen shot of the error page http://www.paylessfurniture.co.uk/images/barclaycard_error_page_notice.jpg

Hi

The latest version of the epdq files we have are from April 2015 and those are available here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/free_downloads.asp

Nothing changed in those files in 6.5.4.

Yes I remember the repeated email issue.
I updated for that one so I am all up to date.

I wonder what is causing this issue, any ideas?

There's not much to go on there ´- is there no error reporting in the epdq admin?

No nothing shows up. It only seems to show if I actually successfully connect to the EPDQ payment page without the error message. Then I cancel the order which of course is not an error.

If I get the error message nothing shows up in the EPDQ back office. Its like I never connected to the payment page.

I have been in touch with Barclays support to see if they have any idea but they are very slow in responding so far.

Did you complete this step
quote:
For the Cancelurl enter your site home page, cart page or whatever page you want customers to return to if they cancel before payment.

Yes I did all the setup and it does work most of the time.

It may be an intermittent server issue on either my side or Barclays.

I have had this message from them recently regarding some Action required: technical changes to ePDQ. I don't think I need to do anything on my side but please take a look. Not sure if their changes to the IP address may be the cause of the issue.

This is what is says.

Barclaycard communication
Important – Action required: technical changes to ePDQ
Dear customer,

We are making some technical changes to ePDQ which may require reconfiguring your firewall.

Please pass on the following message to your web developer or hosting company in charge of managing the connection to our payment gateway as your firewall settings may need to be updated.

What’s changing? We are changing the IP ranges linked to ePDQ’s domains. For reference these are:

payments.epdq.co.uk
mdepayments.epdq.co.uk
secure2.epdq.co.uk

When will this happen? As of the 2 May 2016 the new IP addresses became active. This means you may receive traffic from these new IP addresses from then.

From 17 May 2016 all traffic may originate from these new IP addresses.

What do I need to do? Please refer to our guide available on the Support documentation in your back office or directly here - ePDQ Firewall Configuration Guide As part of your integration you, or your web developer, may have configured your own hosting arrangement or firewall to block/allow web traffic from specific IP addresses or ranges of addresses.

If so, then you will have to review your configuration in order to accept the new range (available in the Firewall documentation).

If in doubt, please speak to your web developer as they will be able to confirm how your integration works.

Technical bit: Please note that you must use full domain/web addresses when interacting with ePDQ, so you should not be referencing any IP addresses in your browser sessions with ePDQ, or in your integration code. Please ensure that:
Your implementation targets a DNS name and not a fixed IP address
Your security infrastructure (like a firewall) is configured to allow our platform to be reached at the following additional destination: 185.8.52.0/22

Any questions? If required, please make the change as soon as possible. If you’re unsure whether these changes will affect your ePDQ integration, please speak to your web developer or hosting company directly, or let us know and we’ll be happy to help.

Kind regards

ePDQ Support Team Tel +44 (0) 844 824 0230* Email: epdqsupport@barclaycard.co.uk

We don't use the IP address so I don't think that should make any difference to the the way the store communicates with Barclays.

Have they got back to you yet?

Yes they have. It took them two days to respond.

Here is their response.

Good afternoon,

The most recent error that I can see on the ePDQ back office for your account is an unknown order/1/r, which refers to the incorrect referrer being placed within the Configuration > Technical Information > Data and Origin Verification area. Please ensure that the correct URL has been submitted. To confirm, this doesn't appear to be a browser issue, more likely it is in fact an integration issue.

This last appeared on 1st May on your error logs; could you advise whether a different PSPID is being used to complete these transactions (this can be checked within your integration) and also which URL you are posting the payments to?

We appreciate your cooperation in advance.

Kind regards,
Ryan

I have just put through a few test orders and all went through each time to the Barclays payment page without a problem. I used chrome and IE

I shall keep an eye on it. These days so many issues with secure pages and cookies all sort of problems can arise depending on recent browser activity etc. Its a nightmare to keep track of for things to work smoothly.

Still having the odd problem with this.

Sometimes my referrer check is lost from my site to ePDQ'
Should it be set as http://www.paylessfurniture.co.uk or should it be http://www.paylessfurniture.co.uk/cart.php

Barclays epdq setup instructions suggest it does not matter!

The system is suppose to check the origin of the url but on occasions fails to do so for mine.
The instructions say we can enter the full url or simply just the domain name. The latter is suppose to find any sub domains and pages of that domain and except them. That is why I have it set up that way to make sure everything is covered.

Can you have a look at the post here from Vince that may help clear things up https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=101321

It could be a www / non-www issue and there's also the suggestion here
quote:
Also, have you tried entering the referrer URL you have set in your Barclays control panel into notepad. Then go to the last checkout page and copy and paste the URL from the address bar below it and make sure it is exactly the same (case and everything).

Have Vince, yes I have already seen that. It`s not the case in this issue as I have looked into that although I agree that could also be a problem if sites can also run that way.

If I go back in my browser and hit checkout again I then land correctly on the Barclays payment page without the error. I think my server is the issue and creates a dead spot every now and again.

I have now changed my referrer url to http://www.paylessfurniture.co.uk/cart.php so the epdq system can find this more directly.

I will keep you posted to how I get on.

While revising the setup instructions I did also note that the transaction feedback urls should also be filled in within Barclays epdq set up admin section. ie accepturl, declineurl, exceptionurl and to enter it as thanks.php and cancelurl as homepage or cart.php.

These are controlled within vsadmin/inc/customppsend.php so I have always ignored them within the Barclays epdq admin panel and left them blank without a problem. The customer has always been returned to the correct page without any problems.

Was hoping this was sorted but still having the same odd problem with my referrer check being lost from my site to ePDQ leaving my customer with an error message on the Barclays Payment Page.

It's intermittent so is very hard to detect when its going to happen and who is effected and when.
I only notice when I do the occasional test transaction.

Suppose the next step is to contact my host to see if their are any server issues on my side as Barclays say their side is ok.

Hi Payless
Just wondering but when you get this referrer error, are Barclays able to tell you the referring URL that caused the error? They should have that information in their logs and it would probably help solve this problem.

Just to keep you updated I still occasionally have the issue with Barclays epdq payment gateway not always successfully making a connection between my site and theirs leaving my customers with an error msg and being unable to pay unless they go back in the browser and hit checkout again .

My referrer connection url http://www.paylessfurniture.co.uk/cart.php sometimes seems to drop between my site and ePDQ'

https://payments.epdq.co.uk/ncol/prod/orderstandard.asp

We have never got to the bottom of this, it could be an error with my server or Barclays but they always say it's not theirs.
Obviously one of the servers at times is failing to respond for some reason which is not unusual as this does occasionally happen with all servers, devices and browsers for many different reasons . Barclays on their side need to implement a refresh call to the referrer page again a few times instead of just letting it fail to find it at the first attempt.

Just to clarify and also in response to Vince's comment.

Please note nothing shows up in the epdq back office logs as the customer and our site has not successfully connected to the EPDQ payment page, the customer only gets a basic error message at the time on their browser so of course nothing will show up in the EPDQ back office as our site and our account has not actually correctly connected to the payment page so no referral has been made.

We of course can see within our own website control panel our failed customer orders and so we contact each customer and ask them why they failed to complete their order and a lot of times they tell us they reached this page https://payments.epdq.co.uk/ncol/prod/orderstandard.asp

Update.

I have managed to sort this one out. This recent issue has found to be caused by http:// and https://

It seems some people are somehow browsing my site in https:// so I have had to added the URL https://www.paylessfurniture.co.uk/cart.php of the merchant page containing the payment form that will call the page: orderstandard.asp along with my standard non http urls

I shall keep an eye on it now with my other sites url transactions, in the past we did have problems with it making the connection and I thought it was still related as I did the following changes which had helped.
I changed the urls from example http://www.paylessfurniture.co.uk to http://www.paylessfurniture.co.uk/cart.php so the epdq system could find them more directly which had cut down on the connection issue however I had must admit I overlooked the possibility of problems with the https:// urls
