Hi,

For various reasons, I am having to move one of my sites to a different server, within the same hosting company.

Before I embark on it (and potentially cause myself a whole heap of problems), I thought I would just check my strategy.

I think I should simply be able to copy my files over to the new server - the domain name and the path to MySQL will remain the same. Am I being naive? Is it that simple?

cheers
Mike

Hi Mike

If your site is on a different server it may well be that your database is too so that may have to be exported / imported - I would check that with your host to be sure.

Hi Andy

Our databases are hosted on a completely separate server, which will not change - it will simply be a new web server (and therefore IP address) for the domain.

That being the case, I assume I am right in thinking I can just copy over ...?

cheers
Mike
