I have just purchased a responsive template
I am running PHP7.0
I have uploaded the files and run creatdb it came back saying successfull
the public side of the website looks and seems to work ok
When I try to log in to admin. I put in the user and password, It flashes up on screen successful login then goes back to the login screen and I keep going around in circles.
Under the login panel it now shows

Warning: Unknown: open(/var/php_sessions/sess_6phhfhka2fhikh7ed4csbvslq2, O_RDWR) failed: No such file or directory (2) in Unknown on line 0 Warning: Unknown: Failed to write session data (files). Please verify that the current setting of session.save_path is correct (/var/php_sessions) in Unknown on line 0

Any idea as to what causes this?

Sure, that looks like an issue with the session variables on the server.
You should show that to your host.

The provider have checked it out and say its the eCommerce Template
I have just just reloaded everything with PHP version 5.6 and and I get the same issue

When uploading the file should I use binary or ASCI?
The ftp was set to auto

Hi Andrew

It looks like the PHP session variables cannot be written as David says - it's not something related to the PHP version or how you upload files but either the location where the session files should be written to is missing or has lost permissions. Can you go back to your host with that information as it's not something you can fix yourself or something we can do from here.
