Hi

One of my longstanding customers who has used ect for close on 10 years now is making a huge step of selling their products outside of the uk.
Now the idea is to roll out to netherlands first (logistically easier for delivery for him) so site needs dutch and euro

Now what is the best route forward?
2 sites - one for the uk one for the netherlands?

Or can it all be done with 2 languages on one site and 2 currencies?

I would welcome peoples experience with doing such rollouts - so I can best advise the customer

Many thanks
Richard

Hi Richard

If it was just a question of languages you could do it on one store but if the currency is going to be different you would have to have 2 stores / 2 databases. You can export the current database and use it for the new site but then change the Store Country and language settings in the Dutch admin.

thanks Andy

(I am waiting to see if the customer is happy for payment in pound sterling through sagepay - or if he is going to run in euros too)
If the currency ends up being through just sagepay then with one store is it a case of adding the products twice once in dutch and once in england and then building two sites on one url and checking language on the htaccess file to show the appropriate version?

Kind Regards
Richard

If there's just one currency but two languages you can the use the multiple language feature https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/multiple-languages.asp - you wouldn't add the products twice just the translated fields in the product admin page.
