-Expression Web from Microsoft
-Blue Griffon Amaya
-Amaya from W3C

Thanks in advance for your help

Hi

I think we may have had this conversation before but only Dreamweaver and Expression Web support dwt files as far as I know.

Hi Andy yeah we did talk about this somewhat before. What's happened is my DWCS3 stopped being supported by Adobe so the serial number reissued won't work.

So how does everyone else who has a e-commerce template make changes to all
Their pages? If they don't use DW or Micro WE?

I think it was Marshall on the other thread that suggested using PHP include files

https://www.w3schools.com/php/php_includes.asp

Personally I would get a copy of Dreamweaver, Steve kindly posted a link here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=109018

Hi,

I know the subscription thing upsets people but you can get dreamweaver for $19.99 a month. Surely one sale could make you that?
Is that really such a high price to pay for something that is fundamental to your business and just works?

One thing I've learned over the years is that it's well worth paying for software that does exactly what you need it to do.
And Dreamweaver works quite well with dwt files...

Hi I just bought a copy on eBay of DWCS6 for $125.00. It came with instructions to copy what's on the CD to my c drive and it should work from there afterwards. As it didn't ask for a serial number which I thought was strange. I contacted Adobe and they said use at my own risk as it might contain malware or a virus etc. So I haven't installed it. I have eBay coverage so am able to return it if needed.

Hi Dano, you could reach out to the seller and find out if its per-registered and per-activated, that would explain why no serial number was require. I'm hoping all goes well for you as I might have to get another copy

Hey Sinbad thanks. This has been kind of a pain without DW. I'm not much of an IT person but this is the reply instructions from the seller which seem rathet strange. He says it's new and never used. But the installation sounds strange to me and makes me kind of nervous. Just being safe..

-----------------------------------------

"Install Steps: 1) create new folder on hard drive. Ex: DW6. Not in the program folder. 2) highlight all files and folders on DVD 3) right click, copy 4) Select your newly created folder 5) right click, paste 6) this can take about 15 minutes for all files. 7) Right click set up ICON from new folder, NOT the DVD 8) Select, send to/ Desktop ( create shortcut ) 9) double click newly created ICON from desktop and follow the prompts 10) the desktop ICON is how you launch the program each time going forward."

Serial number is embedded in the desk and will be applied automatically when you follow install instructions. Thank you"

Sounds 100% like they have hacked the software and they probably have disabled the checks to see if the software is legit.
It will probably work, but the reason they have you jumping through hoops is to bypass the checks to see if the serial # is legit.

In a normal installation, the install verifies the serial #.
The method you have described, bypasses that.

I agree with Steved and to add to his comment, the apps are always bang up to date.

A heads up if anyone is reading this and thinking about the Adobe CC subscription to Dreamweaver, or any of their single app offerings.
There is the annual plan paid monthly for a single app, currently the UK price is £19.97/mth, and then there is the monthly month by month which costs £30.34/mth. Those prices include Vodka And Tonic. If you commit to the £19.97/mth and cancel early there is a penalty as choosing that option is an annual contract commitment.
https://forums.adobe.com/thread/1926342

As for the penalty I am guessing it's the remainder of the 12 months from the time one chooses to cancel.

Hi dano2; That is sounding pretty iffy and NOT how any of my Adobe Dreamweaver versions have been installed.

Adobe registration was done via a third party outfit, I can't recall the name. Once a user carried out the online registration and if everything installed on the PC was deemed legit, what happened was the amtlib.dll file on the users PC was overwritten which the set the software as registered and legit. The amtlib.dll file was the same file in all their CS6 software packages.

Hi Steve I agree. That's why all my posting and why I haven't yet tried installing it. Mostly I'm afraid of malware or virus.

I had cs3 but they shut the servers down and forced everyone to get a replacement serial number. I never got mine to work again. Which is why this. It's tempting to try it. He has others who bought it and they all say it works great.

I need to have my dwt template updated and DW makes that easy.

Hi all,

I have good news. I was able to resolve my CS3 issue and re-activate it using a new Serial number. In case anyone here has this issue and wants to continue using
they're CS3 here is the link to the instructions.

https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2385900

And thanks to everyone here for your help/support/suggestions... as always much appreciated.

Now I can get back to getting our site up and running :)
