 Admin not retaining tracking numbers

ASP v6.8.2 - I always enter the tracking when when sending the "order has been shipped" noticed, and I just noticed, while doing paperwork, that the numbers have disappeared. Looking back, it would seem this started after updating from v6.8.1 to v6.8.2. It is the USPS number if it matters. Any clue as to why this is happening would be helpful.

Hi Marshall

Some changes were made to the invoice and tracking number feature in 6.8.3 - https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=109123 - would it be possible to update and that should be working fine then?

Same here - and not only that, but the customer Order Status Update emails are not even transmitting the tracking numbers. Ugh. I've put off doing the complete update because of not wanting to disrupt things in the middle of the shopping season, but now finding out that none of my customers have been given their tracking numbers since the update - that's a big deal.

I just tried here TequilaMB and the tracking number was sent just fine so I don't think it is a general problem. Can you give us more details and we'll check it out for you.

I enter the tracking number and the border around the input box turns red. I then type my message to the buyer and hit update. The entire time, the border remains red. After the screen refreshes, the tracking input box is empty. Not sure if the tracking number is making its way into the customer "Order Shipped" email as I have not had the time to test that. As I said, on v6.8.2. All the tracking number fields since I updated to v6.8.2 are empty when I go back through the orders. It is not until I reach where v6.8.1 was that there is a tracking number in the field.

If I am not mistaken, is not the input field border suppose to turn green after you tab out of it? Well it does not now. And I just noticed this a few days ago when I went to track a shipment. Otherwise, I rarely go back and look at shipped orders.

After entering the tracking number in the box it will outline in RED.

Next: Hit the ENTER key and the box border will turn Green.

V6.8.3 has this clearly marked to avoid confusion.

Thank you. I just tried what you said and it worked. However, I believe tabbing out or when the field is no longer the focus that should do that. It is not at all intuitive, especially since hitting Enter is often associated with submitting a form, not entering information into a field. (My first criticism of ECT software.)

I agree it is confusing in v6.8.2... BUT v6.8.3 clears up the confusion quite nicely

Vince, I followed midvalleydrifter001's instructions and hit "Enter" after entering the tracking number, and then tested again. This time the tracking number came through. But I do agree that it's quite counter-intuitive.

Are you on Version 6.8.2 or 6.8.3 - there were important improvements to this in 6.83.

OK, and that's working alright for you now on 6.8.2? When the rush is over, update to 6.8.3 and you'll get the new improved version.

Andy, just updated to 6.8.4, and I am not seeing any of the "improvements" promised with the 6.8.3 updater. I skipped over 6.8.3 and went straight to 6.8.4. The tracking number function is still exactly the same. And I could swear I saw somewhere that the issue of being unable to copy the packing slip info from the packing slip page and paste it into Word had been resolved - and I'm not seeing that, either.

In 6.8.4 when you enter a tracking number the field label should turn to red with a flashing message alternating between Tracking Number / Press Enter to Save - when saved the message will return to the regular black field label. If you're not seeing that, I would try running the updater again.

I don't think we can do much about pasting into Word as it's a problem with the way Word renders and its lack of support of css.
