Hi, I have around 12000 emails in my mailing list which have built up over several years and now I need to remove some of the old addresses which are no longer valid. I downloaded the mailing list to a csv file and have had the list validated and I need to remove around 1500 addresses. I have done this in the csv file, but it doesn't appear to be possible to upload it. Is there any way to upload the csv file to replace my existing mailing list?

Hi Richard, it would require accessing the database to import the list, we have a list of developers here that can quote you for that https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/developers.asp I would try bettapages as he has done this type of thing in the past. Thanks, I didn't realise the csv upload also worked for the mailing list. I'm not sure if this would work though as I want to upload the csv file with the invalid email addresses removed, but I don't think the 'add' or 'update' options would remove these addresses from the database ..would they? In that case I will have to ask if Phil can help.

Hi, Another quick mailing list question ...When I select the email addresses to send from the mailing list I can set the sort order i.e. 'date descending'. Does this set the order in which the emails are actually sent? ..If not what order are they sent in and can this be set? The reason I ask is that I understand when sending a large volume of emails they are sometimes blocked so it would probably be best to send to the more recent subscribers first.

Can't one use phpMyAdmin to manage the mailing list? It's all in one table, isn't it?

I don't think that would make any difference really, the bigger hazard is when you send a bunch to a single mail provider all at once, you'll likely get rate limited or blocked for a while. So if they go alphabetically by user name they should be fine. I don't think many hosts would be excited about you dumping 12000 messages in the mail spool all at once, mind you. Hi,
Thanks to all for replies on this subject. In particular, thank you Phil for offering to update my database ..I was going to ask you but thought I'd try doing it myself first. It wasn't as straight forward as I expected, but I managed it in the end. Now the mailing list is cleaned up I'll try sending the emails in small batches spread over several days and see how it goes.
