 $allowemaildefaulton=true; not being obeyed v6.8.4

Hi ECT team, I am running very last PHP v6.8.4.002 on a couple of websites.

Could you please check your demo stores to confirm whether the following includes.php parameter is working, or not ?

$allowemaildefaulton=true; // Upon creating new account, customer automatically subscribes to email news, true or false.

Upon clicking "Create New Account", I have found that the "Allow Promotional Emails" box is ticked.
But after account creation, when you look in the Admin Panel, that box is not ticked.
So the new customer did not get added to the mailing list.

Hi Gary it should be case sensitive can you try TRUE instead of true

I just checked this on my site also.

Same thing.... Not getting added to mailing list.

$allowemaildefaulton=TRUE; is listed only ONCE in vsadmin/includes

I see a fix for this same issue was addressed in the v6.6.1 release ?
Happening again now.

I tried here and accounts created with the parameter seem to have the "Allow Email" checkbox checked and when I check the account in the admin, the account does also have the checkbox checked. But if I create a new account in the admin then the Allow Email checkbox doesn't use that parameter so isn't checked. Is this what you mean?

Hi Vince,
No, nothing to do with creating New Account in back end Admin Panel.

Create New Account on website. Yes, allow promotional emails box IS ticked. Submit, account created successfully.

Login to Admin Panel and check what happened. Yes, new account was created. NO, allow promotional emails box for that particular account IS NOT ticked. NO, that customer was NOT added to the mailing list.

I checked this out on 2 sites today running v6.8.4.002. Patrick confirms same on his Badman Bullets website.

Should add if customer edits account details on website front end, they will find allow promotional emails box IS NOT ticked. Change that, TICK the box and Submit.
Then they are added to the mailing list in Admin Panel.
