Hi, This suggestion relates to the 'login level' restriction of payment providers. At the moment, it is possible to set a payment provider to be available either to all users, or just to particular login levels. It is also possible to set a surcharge cost on a payment provider. Due to recent change in the law, it seems that it is now illegal to surcharge a particular payment type (in UK/Europe anyway).
Our store offers payments by PayPal or Email (Bank Transfer). PayPal costs us more so we had been using a % surcharge to reflect our costs. For retail customers, we can absorb this cost or adjust our pricing, but the issue is for Wholesale customers where margins are tighter and price is very sensitive. I would like to suggest that a particular payment method (Eg PayPal) could be set up as NOT available for particular login levels, so that wholesale customers could be offered Bank Transfer only. I would imagine this being a bit like the Discounts page, where the 'login level' is a dropdown with '=' and '>=' as the values. Could payment providers be like this, but with '<=' as an option as well?
The current system worked very well, however I just think it needs to be reviewed and revised due to the legal change. This feature would allow ECT users to contain their costs in the competitive Wholesale pricing, whilst maintaining the payment flexibility for retail customers, and also importantly, staying within the law!
Many thanks
