Hi. I can't find how to make it not mandatory for a customer to fill in his email address. We still want the option, we just don't want it to be mandatory. Thanks. Paul

I see. Most of the orders in our AG-USA.net store are put through by sales associates on behalf of customers, and many of these customers, being older farmers, don't have email addresses. Would you be willing to write the code to enable us to turn off the mandatory email requirement? If so, could you give me an idea of how much it would cost?
Thanks so much. Paul

Just use your store email address on those orders. That's what we do on the rare occasion that a customer does not have an email address.

We are running php.
We have been using our store email address. The problem with this is that the computer or smartphone tries to guess which account goes with the email address, and it slows the server down to a crawl (30 seconds for each character of the email address you enter). This is what we are trying to solve. Thanks. Paul

It wouldn't be too hard to hack into the code and modify the requirement there, but I'm thinking other problems may arise with no email address on the order. Perhaps you can go into your database and manually remove the email address on an order and see what happens in your admin.
This may give you a clue if it's possible.

A couple of my clients have had / have the very same issue. What they do is to setup their customers with an email address on their business domain name through their cPanel / hosting control panel, and that has been working perfectly for a good 6+ years as I know of.

Thanks for the input. I certainly don't need any other problems arising because of no email address on the order. I guess what we will do is to just put in a bogus email address. Putting in just a few email addresses that are valid would eventually result in the problem that I am having now, where we have used p@max-well.us as the email address, and now there are just too many customers where we have entered this, and so then the great delay in typing in the email address. Thanks again. Paul Paul Schneider Jr
