Hi all,

With regards to the new GDPR that is coming into force on 25/05/18 we are trying to get up to speed with this.

Storing IP Addresses is something that is highlighted as well as customer data information.

The templates currently stores IP addresses and customer address information indefinitely. Is there a way to clear and dump this information from the system after a set time period in order to comply with the new GDPR regs? We personally do not need to know IP addresses for customers, so we could prefer not to store this information at all.

Regards

Kev

Hi Kev

There isn't currently a feature to clear and dump the IP addresses. The field is editable in the admin orders page if anyone was ever to ask to have their IP address removed.

Is that actually a requirement? I haven't seen it if so, but if you know different do let us know please.

Can you put a field somewhere in connection with the customer's name/email on where they were acquired? For instance, did they get on the email list by signing up on the website or were they a previous customer. This would help to answer any question as to how they got on our email list.

This post is helpful:

Hi all,

How do we uncheck the tick box at cart stage for newsletter signup? Currently it is ticked as default?

Thanks

Kev

Hi Kev

You would need to switch to $allowemaildefaulton=FALSE; in vsadmin/includes.php
