Updated to 6.9.2 today. Have done updates in past so know the drill but watched instruction video anyway. Got "Success" message. In my admin, it shows updated to V6.9.2.
Problem is browser will not show index.php (I know it is there). Get this instead: https://www.mexicomike.com/mexico-maps/%2Findex.php Ran update 2x more. Same story. Cleared cache and cookies. Tried different machines. Tried link from my website. Tried just typing in url. Deleted updatestore.php. Re-uploaded index.php.
Read another post where someone advised checking for <link href="/css/ectcart.css" rel="stylesheet" type="text/css">. I have that in my template so in all files including index.php. Checked that the latest ectcart.css was uploaded. Checked the date of all the files in vsadmin. All good. No change after any of those moves. Please advise.
If this is not easilly fixable, any harm in re-uploading the cart in the older version? I downloaded everything before the update.
Thank you very much.

it's some redirect issue it seems. trying to go to https://www.mexicomike.com/mexico-maps/index.php redirects to https://www.mexicomike.com/mexico-maps/%2Findex.php
%2F = a forward slash
You might also check what you have set in your admin main settings for the store url.
I would check to see what redirects you have setup in your .htaccess file

Thanks so much for the prompt reply. I checked the main settings in the store and (as they have always been) the store url was set to https://www.mexicomike.com/mexico-maps/ and https url https://www.mexicomike.com/mexico-maps/ . To check your suggestion, i removed the / from the end of both and treid to get to the index page. No change. That was working before the update.
Went to my .htaccess file, I am enclosing it. It has not changed since before the update when things were working. It is a relatively long list, sorry.

Hi Mike As a quick test, can you temporarily remove these from the .htaccess file as I'm wondering if it's a conflict in the .htaccess file sowehow Redirect 301 http://mexicomike.com https://www.mexicomike.com Redirect 301 http://www.mexicomike.com https://www.mexicomike.com Redirect 301 www.mexicomike.com https://www.mexicomike.com and then try with a perhaps a better method of redirecting to https in the second post here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=106851 Andy Please feel free to review / rate our software

Thanks Andy. You really help.
I removed the questionable redirects you noted. No change in behavior. But no harm either. I went to the link you posted to force https I believe I asked the hosting company to do that already. I did not realize you might be willing to look at the whole .htaccess I was only looking at Redirects. I will include that below. There should be some directives in there that forced traffic to directories from an old, old shopping cart. I took them out and it did not make any difference. I am leaving them in for now, just in case.
Your suggestions are great you know a lot more about this than I do. Is there any merit to this idea? I wonder why the store was working before the update. Could there be a file or reference there that I should look for? And, would it be a good idea to re-upload the old store. Make sure it is still working. Then with a new file from the ecommerce site, try to update again?
Again thanks. </IfModule>

There's a lot there Just to be sure the problem is htaccess related can you rename that file and then force a refresh Ctrl+Refresh and see if the problem persists. Put the file back as it was when you finish the test. Andy Please feel free to review / rate our software

Yeah there IS a lot. Sorry.
Making some progress? Forced refresh (Ctrl+f5) I renamed index.php to 3 different names. Got same results as before. Tried Chrome and Firefox. Even with the different name got this message: The requested URL /mexico-maps//index.php was not found on this server.
Uploaded index.php to /downloads folder and it came up. In both browsers. Renamed it to reindex2.php and it still came up.
This help?

I think that may well be significant that it is attempting to rewrite the index page as a detail page. Just to be clear from your previous post though, renaming the htaccess file made no difference? Andy Please feel free to review / rate our software

My bad, I misunderstand and was renaming the index.php. But when I renamed the .htaccess, it had no effect on the store. It did, however block my menu on the rest of the website (an include). I renamed .htaccess and all is well again on the main site.
I aw using a DW template for the store and tried a different template. The index page came up, but all the menu links are not working. Menu is an include file.

Andy, I gutted the .htaccess file, deleting all the redirects. I took out all the directives at the top except Options -Indexes <IfModule mod_rewrite.c> Options +FollowSymlinks RewriteEngine On
which I figured was needed for search engine friendly product names.
In the end, used a slightly different template. Am able to view products via menu by undoing all the static url's I had and using nothing - i.e. "has static page" but box not checked. This is not what I wanted but if I don't sell, I don't eat so will live with it.
Only problem is that I cannot get an index.php page to show up. Instead, I am shown different pages that are configured as above. Any ideas on that?
