Hello, my client would like to offer first time customers a % discount. Can anyone point me in the right direction as to how I would implement this type of discount?

There isn't really something built in for this as I guess it's a bit difficult to make sure someone is a first time customer. For instance you could base it on them setting up an account, but what is there to stop them setting up another? But could you maybe send an email out with a discount code when they do set an account up? Then maybe change the discount code regularly or check when a customer uses it that it really is their first order?
