I want to apply the free shipping discount to one category and it won't let me. When I make it the free shipping discount, it defaults to "storewide" and that's not what I want. Is there a way to apply Free Shipping to just one category? If so, could you please tell me how to do it?

That's the way things work in that Free Shipping Discounts are store wide. You can make individual products shipping exempt however.

I can do that just by making the weight zero.
I need to have free shipping in the US only on a single category, but I guess I won't be able to do that, yes?
I do wonder why, but we don't need to go there. Knowing that I can't do it throws a big monkey wrench into our pricing structure, but what the heck?! We'll figure it out ... or not.
