Hi David,

Thanks for the update. I just contacted Magic Toolbox and they allowed me a free license for Magic Thumb so I will give that a try. Your switching code sounds like a good solution so thanks for the offer, but I'll see how it works without first.

Richard.

That sounds good Richard.
I suppose the zoom is really only good for desktops anyway.

Thanks,
David

I have now set up Magic Thumb and it is working and displaying images and videos nicely. However, the instructions at https://www.magictoolbox.com/magicthumb/integration/#using-video suggest that you can set it up to automatically create and display a thumbnail based on the video which I would like to do, but I'm not sure how to implement this. Is this possible or do I need to create and upload a separate image to display as the video thumbnail?

Richard.

Hi Richard, when I was looking at Paul's site, I happen to see an image url that was a variation of the video link. I'll look at that again in a bit and see if I can find it. I think youtube creates an image automatically, you just need to know the url and you can enter that in the large image field.

Thanks,
David

Dave, the video thumbnail images on our site are created by taking a snapshot of the video, overlaying a red player icon in Photoshop so that the thumbnail looks like a YouTube thumbnail, and saving as a JPG image uploaded to our site.

Thanks for your replies. I have now found the Youtube thumbnail URL's which are https://img.youtube.com/vi/<insert-youtube-video-id-here>/default.jpg. These don't show the player icon so it would probably be better to create my own video thumbnails as suggested.

Richard.
