My accountant contacted me to give me a heads up to states in the USA looking to collect individual sales taxes for online sales.
Is there a report we can do for sales by each state?

Has anyone else heard of this?

One by one? Or is there a way to do all of them at one time. I have to do 50 of them, once a month.

I think that might be off a bit.
A few states have no sales tax at all and only a handful (less than 20 I believe) have enacted legislation forcing sellers from out of state to collect and remit sales tax. And with those, some of them you will not need to comply unless you meet the criteria.

Your stats page will have a total sales tax collected and it's quite easy to select a state and pull that data. You can also export orders to csv and sort that in excel.

In any case, your accounting software is best to handle this. We use quickbooks.

Thanks Dave, your correct. some state will have a total number of transactions and/or dollar amount threshold.
We do about 10,000 transactions a year, but at a low value. So there are states that we will be hitting the total number of transactions threshold in.
