Noticed that the two buttons (Login to Account and Create New Account) on the clientlogin.php screen are running in to each other when viewed in portrait mode on an iPad.

Seems to be the same on the ECT demo store http://www.ectdemostore.com/rpmonochrome/clientlogin.asp

Any idea what needs tweaking to get the two buttons more evenly spaced?

try adding this to your .css file

div.cartloginlogin { width: 25%;}

You could also reduce the horizontal padding on the buttons in ectstyle.css
