Shopping cart popup won't display

This installation started back probably more than 10 years ago, and his been updated sporadically updated since. When adding an item to a shopping cart, a popup appears with a swirly, but nothing happens after this. Checking the cart, I see the merchandise has been added, but what is probably a confirmation does not display. It appears that I have some sort of an ajax related issue. I have added the javascript to the directory tree, and added that to the header. Checking the console, it appears that the javascript is firing, and the browser is returning a message, but it appears that the client side javascript is missing something. The console is returning a message: ReferenceError: softcartrelated is not defined The cart is question is available here: https://store.vabonline.com/products.php Please let me know what action to take.
