I uploaded the vsadmin, css, spryassets, etc folders and also a proddetail page to a test folder.

When I try to open a page it says Sorry, this product is not currently available.

Can someone remind me how to do this so I can view, edit, etc a new template without affecting my main site? I want to make sure the product images I have will work before I go much further with it.

It has been sooooooo long since I have set up a test folder... Seriously!

Hi Julie

There shouldn't be any more to it than that really but are you connecting to a live or duplicate database?

It's a live database...

I think maybe the versions are different... the store is on 7.01 but the template files are older. Trying to find my updater file so I can get the template on the same version.

Could that be the issue?

When I try to open the test product page:

Incorrect syntax near '#'.

/test/vsadmin/inc/incproducts.asp, line 530

If it's the live database then make sure you copy the vsadmin files and folder from the live site to the test site. Having said that though if you make changes to product images on the test site they will also show up on the live site.

Ok, I can do that, I did copy over the exisiting db_conn_open to the test folder.. but what about the includes file? Shouldn't I skip that since it's not set up for the newer template?

You will need an includes.aps file but it doesn't necessarily need to be the live one although if you are testing stuff out, it makes sense for it to be the same I'd say.

I copied the current vsadmin files to a folder on my harddrive, then uploaded them to the test vsadmin folder, all except the includes (did not overwrite the one that is with the new template).

Nothing changes.. still getting same messages:

test/proddetail: Sorry, this product is not currently available.

test/product: Incorrect syntax near '#'.

/test/vsadmin/inc/incproducts.asp, line 565

Now what do I do?

I would try the includes.asp from the live site as it may well be settings there like the sqlserver switch or url formatting that is causing the problem.

Using the original includes brings the test pages up but it totally messes up the new template.I can't make heads or tails out of it.

I'm guessing I'd have to go line by line, removing/changing, comparing the old/new includes. Ugh.

It's so much easier not having to deal with old stuff mixing in with the new.

Guess I'll just shelf this for another time.

Thanks for your help.

Just put the sqlserver=true in the test includes.asp file
