Hi there,

ECT 7.0.5, WP 5.2

I am trying to update from 7.0.4 to 7.0.5 and keep getting the following error ...

'Checking for devicenotifications upgrade
Adding devicenotifications table
Terminated but with errors
Specified key was too long; max key length is 767 bytes'

And have uploaded the files a couple of times.

Thanks.

Glenn

Hi Glen

I think this may be the issue https://stackoverflow.com/questions/53955427/mysql2error-specified-key-was-too-long-max-key-length-is-767-bytes-for-table

Can you look in the admin database utility to see what collation you are using?

Hi there,

I cannot access the ECT control panel now, just get the header with no menu options nor any info below the header. But I checked a similar site and it is showing latin1_swedish_ci, so I suspect the site with the error is the same.

Thanks.

Do you have access to phpmyadmin via the hosting control panel as the collation can be changed there directly?

Hi there,

Yes. I selected the database and it shows the latin1_swedish_ci collation. Not being real proficient with it, I tried changing the collation via operations, collation, utf8_general_ci, go; the update was successful, but the collation did not change; ran the ECT update again anyway and it completed this time; checked the database again and devicenotifications table did update with the utf8_general_ci collation. The front-end and back-end seem to work OK and a test order went through. So I guess this means all is OK??

When you check the collation via the ECT admin it still shows the latin1_swedish_ci version, should I change it to the utf8_general_ci??

Thanks.

Glenn

Personally I wouldn't change anything now.

OK, sounds like a plan.

Thanks again.
