We have been having orders come through missing the customer's phone number. We test it, and it does appear that it is a required field, so we're not sure how this is happening. Any enlightenment would be greatly appreciated.
OK, well I tried doing the spacebar and it still prompted me to enter it, but I only did it once. I would LOVE if it allowed us to not only require the field, but also put it in the correct format so it would be easier to read when we get the order. Of course, it would need to allow for country codes for our International customers.
Hi Kelley, this does come up from time to time. You might want to make a post in the suggestions forum where others might see it and chime in.
I think it's a challenge with so many ways to enter a phone number, and when you factor in extensions and who know what people might want to enter there..
Hi Kelley It can't . . . or at least you shouldn't be able to. Even if you disable the JavaScript checks the cart should throw you back to the customer details page. But, are these PayPal Express transactions by any chance? If so, do you have the "Phone Number Required" setting in your PayPal account? If not then the phone number is not required as the cart is adhering to your PayPal account preferences.
Log in to your PayPal account Top Right -> Account Settings Left Menu -> Products & Services / Website Payments Website Preferences -> Update -> Website payment preferences Contact telephone number -> On (required field)
