My client who has been working with the SEO company is now asking them to help him to "Shopping Ads". Here is what they told him - does anyone have idea how to make this work?
"I finally heard back from our shopping team. Unfortunately due to the nature of your site, there isnt much we can do to create your dynamic feed. Think of your product feed like a excel sheet that contains information on all the products on your site which google pulls from to show related information on the shopping ad."
This is the rest of the email regarding other issues they are having with the site:
Feed Options o At this time there is not a lot we can do to create a feed for the client because they are using a custom website that does not contain an integrated dynamic feed generator, and there is no way to export a feed from the backend of the website. o An option is the have the clients web developer create a feed using the attachment provided. (See below).
Below is information for the web developer on how to setup the feed. Generally for custom sites in which products change often, we have the web developer setup a dynamic feed and host in on their website. From there, we have them send us the URL the feed is being hosted on and we input it into the GMC and make any necessary optimizations.
Upload Method for a product feed: Scheduled Fetch: Youll host a file on your website that contains data and schedule a regular time for Google to fetch updates. Updates are only applied to your account when the fetch occurs. More Info: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/1219255?hl=en
Supported File Formats: o .txt: text Tab-delimited data feed instructions: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/160588 (Example files can be found here) o .xml: XML XML data feed instructions: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/160589 or https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/160593 (Example files can be found here) o .gz: Gnu zip, compressed text or XML o .zip: Zip, compressed text or XML o .bz2: Bzip2, compressed text or XML
More info: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/160567?hl=en Minimum product attributes required: ID These can be randomly assigned, but preferably use SKU # or something concurrent with your backend. Title Description Link Image Link Availability (In stock, Out of stock, Preorder) Price Google Product Category- A list of Google Product Categories can be found here: https://www.google.com/basepages/producttype/taxonomy-with-ids.en-US.txt Brand GTIN (barcode / UPC / ISBN) MPN Condition (NEW, USED, REFURBISHED) Shipping Weight (If applicable) Required attributes for apparel: o Age Group o Color o Size o Gender More Info: https://support.google.com/merchants/answer/7052112?hl=en#intro-basic

It would be this one: http://www.dlss.ca/proddetail.asp?prod=GoogleMerchantFeed It is not too difficult to set up but there are conditions that may require you to add data if you do not already add all your product details in the cart admin. One of the best mods/add-ons we have purchased from Mike.
Instructions easy to follow and once setup just click a link in admin to download the xml feed.

I got your last couple of emails, perhaps some of mine are not getting to you.
I got the link - but I have questions:
A couple of other questions This is a MOD, so it WILL be affected by future updates? What needs to be done the next time I run updater for this site?
Also Im lost as to what I need to do. I understand the instructions of installing it, that seems straightforward, but
.what then?
I'm going to send you another email from a different email address, let me know if you receive it.

Mike,
Does your Product Schema Markup product conflict with your Google Merchant Feed? I'm using both products on my site and Google is now showing "Mismatched value (page crawl) [availability]" on 2940 of our products. How do I fix this? We use hidden products for apparel and footwear that have size and color options.
Thanks, Kelley

I received your email, and rectified the issue. Due to some custom changes we did with your Google Merchant Feed I had to alter the schema so the same rules apply for your stock settings.
