For whatever reason, you might have to change a product ID so you disable the product and create a new one. This results in the old pID landing on a page effectively stating "product no longer available, but you night something else in the category." Or you set up 301 redirects in your web.config or .htaccess file. This can be cumbersome and is rather inefficient.
Since you do not want to lose any SEO juice you might have with an old pID, it would be nice to have a built in option, along the lines of "has static URL' where you have "has new pID" then you enter the new pID in that field and any searches for the old pID brings you to the new one.
Just a thought.
