For whatever reason, you might have to change a product ID so you disable the product and create a new one. This results in the old pID landing on a page effectively stating "product no longer available, but you night something else in the category." Or you set up 301 redirects in your web.config or .htaccess file. This can be cumbersome and is rather inefficient.

Since you do not want to lose any SEO juice you might have with an old pID, it would be nice to have a built in option, along the lines of "has static URL' where you have "has new pID" then you enter the new pID in that field and any searches for the old pID brings you to the new one.

Just a thought.

That's not a bad idea Marshall.
I know I have quite a few of these 301 redirects in my web.config file for this very reason.

Perhaps this new field could show then the "Display Product" is unticked, and the redirect would only work what that original product is disabled from display.

I was thinking it should have a separate check box as you might have the product set to not display because it is an ALT ID.

Definitely a very important requirement. Currently takes a huge massive humongous effort to do manually.
