On Tuesday, 7th July 2020 the " Google Webmaster Central Blog" posted advice that ... quote: The Rich Results Test is out of beta Today we are announcing that the Rich Results Test fully supports all Google Search rich result features - it’s out of beta. In addition, we are preparing to deprecate the Structured Data Testing Tool - it will still be available for the time being, but going forward we strongly recommend you use the Rich Results Test to test and validate your structured data.
Read their entire blog post here >>You may like to bookmark the new Rich Test Tool here >>When you paste a URL into that Rich Test Tool, notice there is a drop-down menu containing 2 options: (1) Googlebot smartphone (2) Googlebot desktop Choose one option and click the " TEST URL" button. Here is an example of what you will see when using the tool: Now for the good bit ... If you test a URL for an " Article" page, you will get this advice: quote: Page not eligible for rich results known by this test Only a subset of rich result types is currently supported
The test currently only supports the Rich Result Categories listed here >>For now " Product" ... YES, but " Article" ... NO. I guess support for "Article" structured data will be added down the track, and those pages will still be listed in your Google Search Console as "Valid". Gary
