The endpoint is correct but the error number is just a Microsoft generated error number to do with the inability to make a connection rather than any Authorize.net error number (as we haven't got to communicate with them.)

It really seems like something on the server is blocking the connection so do try pushing them a bit more.

Thanks Vince. When you say it's a problem with the server. Are you referring to Startlogic? And keep pushing them?

I mean with whoever you are hosting with. I really think there IS something on the server blocking connection to the authorize.net URL. But yes, keep pushing them. If you like send me the site FTP login to my email (vince AT ecommercetemplates DOT com) and I'll see if I can set up a test script to illustrate the problem to them.

I've put a script in the root of your website, t.asp which just tried to connect to auth.net and send a bit of dummy JSON. On my test site I get a response from them saying that, of course, the json is invalid. On your site I get ...
quote:
msxml3.dll error '80072ee2'

The operation timed out
Can you let your host know the location of this test script and they should hopefully be able to take it from there. The URL the script tries to connect to is...

https://api.authorize.net/xml/v1/request.api

The web host, Startlogic, finally go to the issue after having continually passing it up the line. They said they fixed it, but it still doesn't work. Their email message is copied below. Is there anything I missed that I need to do before it works? Or did they in fact fail to fix the issue?

From Startlogic:

Thank you for your patience. This is a follow email regarding the Authorize.Net API connection issue that you have reported. We have received an update from our Windows System Administrators and they have fixed the Authorize.Net API connection issue.

Please try to connect the Authorize.Net API through the script now on your end, and do get back to us if you have any further questions.

Now that you've got through to a level of support that seems to know what they are doing . . . keep on at them.
