I'm in the process of migrating my website from one host to another. I made a db backup on the old host, copied all of the files to the new host. Set up a new db and pointed the db_conn_open file to the new db. What steps am I missing to make the website work on the new host?

Hi, you didn't mention where you restored the database backup to the newly created database instance.
Did you do that?

Thanks,
David

That should be it.
You didn't mention any error or issue...
Is it not working, and if so, what kind of error are you getting?

Thanks,
David

Sorry for the late response. Just got back to working on this issue after a "perfect storm" during the week.

The error i'm seeing is "This site can't be reached" The connection was reset.

Hi Challenger_Jeff
For something like this I would get in touch with your host first as it sounds like one of the site settings at the new host that is causing this. Can you try them first and if they can't help we'll dig deeper.

Well I'm making progress, but still not up and running. The main page loads, but there is an error at the bottom, and none of the links work. I think it's a database problem. Here is the error:

Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mysql_query() in E:\web\spar\vsadmin\inc\incfunctions.php:1812 Stack trace: #0 E:\web\spar\vsadmin\inc\incfunctions.php(63): ect_query('SELECT adminEma...') #1 E:\web\spar\vsadmin\inc\incminicss.php(9): getadminsettings() #2 E:\web\spar\index.php(72): include('E:\\web\\spar...') #3 {main} thrown in E:\web\spar\vsadmin\inc\incfunctions.php on line 1812

Hi, if you search the forum for the phrase "Fatal error: Uncaught Error: Call to undefined function mysql_query()"
You will get lots of hits.

here is one that is relevant - https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=112819

As Vince writes, it's likely you have not done the proper update to your connection file.

Thanks,
David

SMH. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. You were 100% right about the dbconn file. I'm embarrassed how long I danced around this issue and it was the simplest fix.
