We work with several dropshippers. This works great but orderhandling of one order by multiple dropshippers is a bit awkward. We have made some custom additions. A dropshipper receives an order for an item that he ships. In the email is a link to our additional orderprocessing page. Here the dropshipper can see the order, print a PDF document (packing slip, packing list and invoice), addresslabel or even download an XML to import in their own backoffice system. And he can also changes the orderstate and add a message to our client or a private message for us. Changing the orderstate now is confusing. When an order consist of more than one item that have to shipped by more than one dropshipper. An order can only be considered shipped when all items are shipped, so how to determin this? Or even more complicated when a dropshipper has to have an item in backorder, ship some other and another dropshipper has the same issue. Maybe it is an idea to implement a solution for this. Maybe an orderhistory table with comparable functionality as 'normal' orderhandling. Dropshipper 1 changes status to delayed (for his item), dropshipper 2 changes status to shipped (for his items) and dropshipper 3 changes orderstatus to order split. Etc.. Any change results in an e-mail being send to client. So clients are aware of what is happening and what to expect.
