On our second checkout screen, buyers enter important information in the Additional Info box that is required for us to ship each order.

Can anyone suggest a robust way to add Placeholder text to that Additional Info box, with the same format (color, font, and behavior) as the Placeholder text (Address, City, Postcode, etc.) that's visible inside all other checkout text boxes until text is entered?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions on this.

Hi Paul, it looks like this can be done with javascript.
What that means is you should be able to do it without modifying the core files.

Check this page out - https://www.w3schools.com/jsref/prop_textarea_placeholder.asp

Send me a message if you need help.

Thanks for that, Dave.

Rather than add JavaScript to that cart page, for now we'll go with a simpler workaround of adding a reminder at the top of that checkout page using a $xxCoStp2="You Must Enter the Additional Information for This Order to Ship." line in the includes file, as mentioned in one of your previous posts.
