Today I got some emails from Google about "Review snippets issues detected". It seems like they are unable to crawl my site's reviews for a reviewer name.
Here's an example of what it looks like to them: <span class="reviewer" itemprop="author" itemscope itemtype="http://schema.org/Person">Kyle</span>
Yet the Google console says: Missing field "name"
I'm currently on 7.2.5 but am updating soon to current version. I didn't see anything in the update notes about this so I'm not sure if this is an old problem that has been resolved or will continue to be a problem moving forward that needs fixing. Any help is appreciated.

From the best I can tell it looks like they are looking for something like this:
<div itemprop="author" itemtype="https://schema.org/Person" itemscope> <meta itemprop="name" content="Fred Benson" /> </div>

I've also just started receiving these and cannot find where these are coming from. My product reviews all have reviewer names listed, yet it seems Google isn't finding them.

Hello,
we also received several emails from Google regarding same error:
Search Console has identified that your site is affected by 1 Products issues: Top Errors Errors can prevent your page or feature from appearing in Search results. The following errors were found on your site: Missing field "name" We recommend that you fix these issues when possible to enable the best experience and coverage in Google Search.
Vince, can you please check this? Thanks!

just updated my test site (php) to try this fix and I notice that the reviews section on the proddetail page now reveals any html manually added.
Please see below:

Thanks Patrick - that works.
Just out of interest, how did you find this out? Did I miss that information somewhere?

I brought it up on a thread in the PHP forum as I had the same problem.
