Hi, I am setting up the affiliate program, and just have a query about how the affiliate link should be created. Looking at the help page here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/affiliate_program.asp it says this:
"The referring URL will typically be in the form of https://www.yourstoreurl.com/categories.asp?PARTNER=name"

I just wanted to check if that is definitely 'name' in the query string, as it would seem that AffiliateID would be more appropriate?

Also if I want to just refer to the home page (it does have the PHP includes) could that be https://www.yourstoreurl.com?PARTNER=name or would it have to be https://www.yourstoreurl.com/index.php?PARTNER=name ?
There is another forum post about this which I have to admit I didn't really understand!

Hi Ellen, yes, replace the "name" with the actual affiliate ID.
For the home page, it would be https://www.yourstoreurl.com/index.php?PARTNER=name

Thank you for your reply. I have SEO friendly urls, so if I want to link to category page would this be OK?

https://www.mysite.co.uk/category/?PARTNER=XXXX
or would it need to be

https://www.mysite.co.uk/categories.php?PARTNER=XXXX

The forum post I linked to seemed to suggest this type of redirect was a problem, but as I didn't fully understand it I wasn't sure.

Update: I tested by looking at the site cookies created in my browser, and this worked for me

https://www.mysite.co.uk/category/?PARTNER=XXXX
