I brought this up once before, but it would be nice if there was a built in redirect for products. Often I have clients that replace a product with a newer version and, instead of deleting the old product, it would be great if you could simply set it to not display or sell and have a built in redirect to the new product, or another product.

My though is under the option of Has Static URL and Has Static Page, add Has Redirect and in the text field enter the product ID to the new product. With that, in the product listing page, change the color of the disabled product from the current red to blue to show that it redirecting. This would be easier than dealing with either WebConfig or .htaccess every time.

I’d extend it to categories too.

I have quite a few redirects in my web.config file for this very reason.
I would love to have a redirect feature as well.
