I have a site where the vsadmin login function will work when allowing login, however the renamed vsadmin folder is throwing an error "*****.com is currently unable to handle this request.
HTTP ERROR 500"

I can still login to the regular vsadmin folder just fine, but when I try to login to the renamed folder it throws that error. I do not have both enabled at the same time. I enable either the vsadmin folder, or the renamed folder. One works, one doesnt... both identical.

That is odd to me.

Same server as other sites where this isnt an issue.

Im missing something here :)

Did you recently update the store and forget to upload files to this secondary folder?

Regardless, if you get the error behind the generic 500 error, it will lead to the problem.

Its interesting. The other two stores on the same server with the same update running the same PHP and same set up are working correctly. I even deleted the second vsadmin, made a copy of the one that works as vsadmin, renamed it, tried to access it and it threw the error! Only thing different is the name!

Ok, that's freaky but as David mentioned if you can get the details behind the 500 error message it should help to solve this problem. If you don't know how to get the error details then ask your host to help.

Ill check with the host :) Its just the one site, permissions are good, everything else works.. I added the login key so that helps
