Hi,

Back in March we upgraded one of our sites to PHP v7.4.8 and swapped payments from Opayo/SagePay to Stripe and all has been working well from day one.

On Saturday I moved our other site from an older server to the same server we have our other site on, upgraded to v7.4.8 and added Stripe but for some reason even though the payments are successful within Stripe they are not authorising in our ECT admin and I have been tearing what's left of my hair out trying to work out what's up but with no joy.

Both stores are running the same version of ECT, PHP, MySQL etc and at first I thought it might have been a DNS propagation delay but it's now been over 48hrs so I have discounted that.

The payment provider details look correct and we are using the New SCA-Ready option and have Authorize Capture set which is the same as the other working store.

When I originally setup the second account within Stripe and added the webhook the site would have been on the old server so since the server move I have tried rolling the publishable and secret keys and re-entered into ECT admin but still no joy.
Stripe tells me all is OK within our account and I even got an email from them congratulating me on receiving my first order but each time an order is processed you are redirected to thanks.php and the following message is displayed:

Sorry, there seemed to be an error !
If you need any help with your purchase, then please be sure to contact us.
The order has not yet been authorized. Please wait a few moments then refresh this browser window.

I have run debug in includes.php and I cannot see anything obvious in the email I receive but then I am not 100% sure what I am looking for.

Hopefully I am missing something obvious here but any ideas would be welcome.

Regards,
David

Hi David
It sounds like the web hook is not arriving at the vsadmin/stripewebhook.php page for some reason. Have you tried looking through the server logs to see if an attempt to access that page has been made? If it is, check to see if it was successful or there was a 500 error for instance.

Hi Vince,

Many thanks for your reply.

I have had a look at the logs and I can see the:
POST /vsadmin/stripewebhook.php
and the
GET /thanks.php?method=stripe
and both have 200 codes with them.

I've done a comparison to the store that worked strait away and all looks the same so I am at a loss on this one.

Is there anything you can suggest I look for?

Regards,
David

Hi David,
Just a thought and I'm assuming not but, is the non functional store using digital downloads?

Hi Phil,

Thanks for the suggestion but it's not using digital downloads.

I've double checked thanks.php, includes.php and the db_conn_open.php file just in case and there are no references to digi downloads in the files.

Regards,
David

If the page is being called and not erroring, can you try adding this to the includes.php file...
$debugmode=TRUE;
Then try a test transaction and you should get an email with details of the call to the webhook script.

After following this up with the Stripe engineers it seems that this issue is caused by changes implemented by Stripe in the latest version of their API. So this will only affect new accounts for now (until your API version is updated) but we've now changed the way Stripe is integrated so this is no longer a problem. We've added the changes to the v7.5 updater for now but will also add them to v7.4 later on.

Thanks for your help, David, in tracking this down!

Hi Vince,

Thank you for making the changes to allow for the latest Stripe API version.

Orders are now authorising in our ECT admin as expected.

Regards,
David

Hi,

Has this fix been added to the 7.4 updater? I have a similar problem with Stripe on a site running 7.4.8, and would prefer to stick with the Stability Release.

Many thanks,
Tim

Hi Tim
This change is only in the v7.5 updater at the moment but these changes would only apply to a new Stripe account anyway. Is this the case for you or is it an existing account?

Hi Vince,

It's a new Stripe account. The client is keen to move away from Paypal.

Hi Vince,

I've updated to 7.5 and will get the client to test.

This processed has introduced a CSS type problem to the Spry Tabs, but I'll start a new thread for that.

Cheers,
Tim
