PayPal Checkout Authorization / Capture

DavidX Ecommerce Template Expert 930 Posts	Posted - 10/17/2024 : 16:18:09 We recently switch to the new(er) PayPal Checkout and I see this section when I click on order now. Is there an explanation somewhere of each dropdown and maybe some examples of how it's used? do I generally just leave it alone?

Reauthorization: If you still haven't captured the order and it's getting near the date limit to capture it, this will extend the authorization. Void: Cancel a transaction that hasn't been captured Refund: Refund a transaction that has been captured. quote: You can only refund a transaction with a Settling or Settled status. If you need to cancel a transaction that has an Authorized, Submitted for Settlement, or Settlement Pending status, you may be able to issue a void instead. DavidX Ecommerce Template Expert 930 Posts	Posted - 10/18/2024 : 08:22:14 How do I know if I'm using Authorize Only? All I see is that payments appear to be going through as they always have. I'm just not clear on how to interact with these. Should I be doing anything on a normal order?
Vince Administrator 42689 Posts	Posted - 10/19/2024 : 03:44:02 Hi DavidX Go to the "Settings" for PayPal Checkout and then where it says, "Transaction Type" you can set it to "Authorization" or "Sale". It sounds like you are set to Sale but if it is Authorization then you need to Capture the funds before they are moved to your PayPal account.
