Hi, we have a longstanding problem with PayPal, currently using the new checkout version. We halve a lot of unmauthories transactions, speaking to customers and testing here we see an error on the final confirmation step ‘The requested action could not be performed, semantically incorrect, or failed business validation.’

I can reproduce this on my iMac and iPhone but Phil at Bettapages cannot reproduce on his PC based systems. I have created new Vicisoft credentials deleted the old version and made sure as far as I can tell that Advanmced payments are set up, Applepay etc is also ticked in. PayPal.

We see all the customer details apart from the phone number which is the xxx-xxx error.

We are on the latest stability release version 7.7.8

What should our next steps be please, Vince if required Phil can give you the log in or ftp details..

Hi Simon
I'm sorry to hear you are having problems but hopefully we can get to the bottom of this. But in the latest versions you should get in the Private Order Status for an order the details of why a failed transaction was rejected. Can you see anything there? This will only be for customers that actually tried to pay. What we should then do is follow up with PayPal as to what is happening. If you want to send me the details by email (vince AT ecommercetemplates DOT com) it may make life easier.

None of the failed orders have anything in the private order status box…

Ok, it sounds like we might need to get PayPal involved. Are you able to make a screen video of when this happens to you on your iMac or iPhone? Could you send that to my email (vince AT ecommercetemplates DOT com) along with the site FTP login details?

Yes, you are correct and if you are able to send me a screen video or something like that so I know how to explain to PayPal how to reproduce then I'll get a support request opened with PayPal.
