Not sure how difficult it would be to make an API alternative version for sending store mail. Godaddy (and maybe others) force you to use their relay servers and do not give you the choice to use your own SMTP credentials when using the PHP mail function. I use Amazon SES for some emails and would be great if we could use our API key to access that for store related emails.
