I dont know if this is straightforward or custom work.

I sell tickets ie football / concert / rugby!

Each ticket has a performance / match date.
I currently list the product like this:

Man City V Man United 28 November 2017

However I think I need an extra field to seperate the DATE from the product

Is this something you can guide me through with my limited knowledge or is ita custom job?
If that latter can you let me have a quote please

Thanks
Pete

Hi Pete

Why do you need to separate the date from the product as I assume the date will only be changing once a year, you wouldn't have multiple dates, would you?

Hi Andy

pID pName pSection pPrice
chel100 Chelsea v Watford Saturday 21 October 10 125
chel101 Chelsea v Manchester United Saturday 4 November 10 126

We have overseas vistors looking to go to a footballmatch when they visit - they would often look for the "date"
Another scenario would be to LIST XX Team matches in DATE order. This would show both home and away matches chronologically.

It is worth mentioning that many games have several seat packages ranging frombasic to VIP BOx - these are listed as a seperate products. Example

chel101 Chelsea v Manchester United Saturday 4 November 10 100
chel101 Chelsea v Manchester United Saturday 4 November 10 150
chel101 Chelsea v Manchester United Saturday 4 November 10 210
chel101 Chelsea v Manchester United Saturday 4 November 10 290

I'd value your input

Would it help if you have products in multiple categories

So for example you'd have two sets of categories, Premier League teams and Months

and then a fixture like
Man City V Man United 28 November 2017

would go into the categories
Man City
Man Utd
November 2017

Interesting. I will probably use this method as well, but...

How can user then see ALL Premier League matches on Saturday 21 November?
Then filter by team /price

Added November as a category and used Additional Section on Product page to show the match in November

Downloaded csv for both categoryinventory and inventory but cannot see WHERE the match is now in 2 categories. I thought it would be in inventory.csv but apparently not - am I looking in the wrong place?

I want to do bulk upload of all matches in November

Category inventory shows November OK

There isn't a feature to add categories or additional categories through the csv file I'm afraid.

For the filtering maybe you could use the product attributes feature https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/admin-main.asp#filter

Andy,
In the DB is the pID field fixed as text or number

My thinking is if I can use 01-05-18 as the pID (this is the date of the football match), then SHOW the pID, customer can put all matches in DATE order.

I was able to put this number formatin the admin panelok but when I downloaded the csv file, changed the pID fields en massthen reupload the csv it wouldn't accept it.

This is also the reason I was asking about the product sort bar as I can sort by pID (effectively the DATE of the event)

Your thoughts please

Pete

Hi sorry but the pid can only contain alpha / numeric combinations no characters such as dashes / underscores are allowed.

Ok.Thats strange
Ive actually managed to add the pID 05-01-18-Arsenal andothers in this format

If this is not possible, what other 'searchable' 'oder by date' field can I use to put in the DATEof a soccer match?

Just to be clear here, you can have dashes in the Product ID, you can't have spaces. You can't change the product id via the csv file though.

Thought so thats clarified it.

How can I get the products to appear in a certain order by default?
Ie: Default = show by pID ascending

I am also thinking about getting the advanced search bar

That would be the Default Product Sort Order in the main admin settings page.
