I am faced to migrating my very old .NET ASP (w/MS Access) site to a new server hosted by a 3rd party service
I have upgraded my eCommerce site www.hardwoodsound.com to responsive when it was made available -
Now I am wanting to migrate my site to a WordPress platform.
As you may have already guessed what my next question will be...
Please advise what are the steps I need to follow and/or my 3rd part service needs to follow to ensure this migration is successful?
Warm Regards
Ronald Capodagli

Hi Ronald, to switch to the wordpress platform would require that the database be converted to mysql for PHP. You would also need the wordpress replacement software available here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/replacement-software.asp I highly recommend Bettapages to do the database conversion he has done them in the past for other stores making the change https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/developers.asp Winners never quit, quitters never win CSS and Responsive DesignsUser Manual for Ecommerce Templates

Thank you for the quick response...
Is there an "upgrade" price available for WordPress, as there was for responsive?
I am guessing that there will be nothing salvageable from my ASP ECT, right?
Finally, would you be able to outline the steps I would take for the migration, or is it simply a new install of WordPress and a migration of the database?
My ISP is setting up an instance of WP on their server, how do I bring your template into that instance?
Warm Regards,
Ronald Capodagli

Hi Ronald, the Regular Wordpress upgrade version is $49.95, Provided you have the database converted then you would retain all order / customer / product information, the prodimages folder can be copied over to the new server. General steps are outlined here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/wordpress/ Winners never quit, quitters never win CSS and Responsive DesignsUser Manual for Ecommerce Templates

OK, so I paid my $79 for the License ID 0003rd00grb0009
I had to create a new account because it could not find ronald-capodagli@sysquest.net...
The download link only provides a PDF form... with ASP and PHP being the only options.
I do apologize, but I am a little confused - where to I get my "real" download?

Thanks - I finally understand what the PDF form was for, argh... Just sent it back to you...
So, I am guessing at my steps...
1) my host set up a WordPress site for me 2) I download the theme to my site and activate it
3) I am guessing that I need to migrate my Access db (ASP) to MySQL - I am not in a position to pay for someone to do it - Is it a 1:1 table migration and I can use the "wizard? Do you have a script or can lend some direction as to what I would need to do?
Please advise...

Hi Ronald the database conversion is not 1:1 and I highly recommend that you hire someone like Phil from bettapages to do the conversion, otherwise the site could be plagued with errors from time to time depending on the function being performed all because the database was not converted properly. I don't even attempt to do those types of conversion I leave it to the pro. It cost nothing to get a quote. Understand... I will look into it...
I have one other issue, I paid $79 for the Responsive WordPress and you sent me the $49 Non-Responsive WordPress
Through the email (and in the form), I sent the responsive link, the product ID and the name for the responsive product.
I was told I could not pick from that link and had to use the non-responsive link.
Will I be getting a $30 credit or the responsive WordPress product
Please advise
Warm Regards, Ronald Capodagli

When I try to download the plug-in, I get an error stating...
I'm sorry, you don't have any products within their support period under this email address. Please try another.
The email address is ronald-capodagli@sysquest.net
Am I doing something wrong, please advise...
And am I going to have to download each and everyone of these plug-in via separate emails?
I am supprised your not using the WOrdPress Plug-In feature...
FYI, I also just updated my ASP Updater subscription - I am guessing I don't need this anymore, can it be applied to WordPress?
Warm Regards, Ronald Capodagli

Wow, a lot of work compared to the ASP templates I have used for the last 10 or so years... :-)
This WordPress template is not the plug and play template solution I have grown to love with when I launched my ASP site many years ago...
In any event, how do I disable the Sidebar (ECTGEARCONTROLLER) that keeps showing up with options to change my theme color, page width and color?
Please advise, thanks.
Warm Regards, Ronald Capodagli

No, normally a feature like this would be made available from the theme provider.
The ECT Blackstuff Settings has no feature to enable or disable the ECTGEARCONTROLLER and nor does WordPress (and they wouldn't since its a theme feature)
You are consuming its options via ectwpblackstuff: wpgear-settings.php (inc/wpgear-settings.php)
Your demos do not have the feature enabled... so perhapes you can provide some direction as to what code needs to be removed or better yet, add the option to ECT Blackstuff Settings for enable/disable?
And not to mix issues, but in the ECT Blackstuff Settings, the Upload Logo will allow you to upload a graphic but it does not "Post" back to the ECT Blackstuff Settings

I thought that has been set up as a plugin. AS a quick fix add this to your css file .ectgearcontroler{display:none} but if you'd like it remove completely, send me an email with your FTP details and I'll do that for you. Andy Please feel free to review / rate our software
