There is a rewrite for Period"." but not for "-" rewrite for the dash? Something to do with htaccess maybe?? Those entries were probably there for a reason, what I would do is make a backup of the .htaccess file rename the backup .htaccess_origianl, then create a new .htaccess file with only the SEO code and upload that to the server, check the site and see if that made a difference. I'm not clear EXACTLY which special characters can or cannot be used ... or is it simply that we can't use ANY characters in the first/number row? Thanks! Tim Gorski

You also need to remove hyphens, slashes, hash tags and & signs from all your category names as well. I tried to replace those symbols with their corresponding HTML codes (e.g. #45; for hyphens) and they still did not work.
