Hi

You don't need to create a permalink for the home page.

That should be explained in the pdf file that comes with the zip download you received from us. Let us know how that goes.

The PDF does step you through the process of creating a Home page on page 3.

"In the WordPress admin go to Pages > Add New and call the new page Home"

But be careful NOT to do as you did for the other pages and enter “home.php” in the permalinks field as you will receive the friendly 404 page - not sure why...

My permalinks field for my Home page is blank.

Additionally, any edits via WP GUI to the Home page are never displayed, all my edits to the Home page are done directly to the source code via WP Editor

I know how to create home page and have done it and updated permalinks.
This is the problem

The Homepage I created - with test text and no banner, does not show even though I have it selected in settings>reading>staticpage "Home".
It is in Menu also. (I can get to see the homepage I created as a menu item only IF I can this above link to another page)

The homepage that actually shows is the ect template Homepage - with the 3 image banner
I dont see this page in the menu and dont know where its coming from.

I think Ronald and I (topic beow) are having similar issues with the differenet homepages 1) we create and 2) generated from store

I think it's maybe because you aren't using the home page that came with the store and are trying to set up your own. The two themes are quite different so the pdf instructions will also be different non how to add edit the information on the home page - have you looked at your instructions file?

Oh yes. It says

"In theWordPress admin go to Pages > Add New and call the new page Home and save that.
Now in the Wordpress admin go to Appearance > Customize and choose Static Front Page"

"Check the box for A Static Page and then from the drop down select “Home” from the choices and Save"
cre
It specifically states to create a HOME page, then choose static front page.
I believe I have done this as per instructions.

There appears to be a conflict between the HOME page I have created - which I can access withing WP, and the ect theme homepage which I cannot access from within WP

Sorry, I missed your post.

You create a blank home page but follow the instructions in the pdf file for editing the elements, most of which are dynamic.

As you see from my previous posts Andy I have already done that. It goes onto say

"You can either continue formatting the home page now or move onto another section like setting
up the store pages."

In Settings>Reading .....the staic page is set to HOME page.
So I go to Home page, add some dummy text and it does not show in site

In Appearance> Customize> Has static page> HOME page is selected.
I can edit the 3 images and Home Slider on this page

This is the confusion. I want to edit the HOME page that has the slider and 3 images - where can I access this.
I dont believe this page is the HOME page I created, hence the confusion

The actual file that generates the home page is called front-page.php - you should see that in your theme folder and under Appearance > Editor in your wordpress admin.

This is what I was getting at - its confusing sorry
It seems that adding any content to the Home page I created is of little use as its not being used

Within WP - and without having to edit the actual file, how do I add content to the front-page.php

Sorry for any confusion, any HTML you need to add can be added directly to front-page.php - you might want to make a back up first if you already have edits there though.
