OK, first question - with the template you sent me and I then installed, is the only way to modify the HOME page through the source editor and NOT the WP Page Editor?

Because, no matter what I do through the WP Page editor, my modifications are NEVER reflected in the live HOME page after updating.

[red]After some additional testing, while crafting this topic, all of the pages added as instructed by the PDF (Thanks, Sorry, Search, etc.) act the same way as my HOME page, WP Page Editor has no effect.[/red]

The only page that reflects the changes via WP Editor (in this case the shortcode) was the Sample page with the permalink of .../?page_id=2

I am hoping to can tell me why this is? Am I missing something?

And what does this statement mean in the details of the plugin for ECT HOME PAGE PRODUCTS?
"The ECT Home Page Products plug-in is only available for Ecommerce Templates shopping cart software WordPress integration."


Here is a recap of my steps that brings up my issue:
1) I generated the shortcode from the plugin [ect_homepage_prod id=224463756],
2) I then went to EDIT PAGE and pasted the short code in both the visual and text areas (separately after each test)
3) Applied the updates only to find that my HOME page remained unchanged.

So, please share your thoughts on the editor behaviors and how I would use this plug-in for my home page, or any of the pages?

[blue]FYI, I just tested the Plug-In ECT Product Carousel and it's behavor/impact is the same as ECT HOME PAGE PRODUCTS; the shortcode has no effect/impact.

Hi

The plugin short code for the home page products would be added to page-home.php - that's the home page layout by default

The store generated pages are generated by the store plus the header, sidebar and footer in wordpress - the main content is dynamically generated by the store database so wouldn't be edited in the WP Page Editor.

Andy, you lost me on the PAGE-HOME.PHP... I am not seeing that anywhere in my site...

I have created a Home page as per the PDF instructions -
[blue]Do I need this page?
Why did you have us create it?
Is it tied to the index.php page somehow?[/blue]

If you try to add a permalink to the Home page (Home.php) I created, you get the 404 screen

Additionally, the PDF instruction did not say anything about the index.php file that was part of the ECT template - I already had a index.php and elected not to override it, should I?
[red]Update: Never mind on this one, just checked the code and there is no difference between the two file.

So, to recap my top question...
Should I delete my home page via WP pages

FYI - Thanks for reminding me about ECTs dynamic pages as I now understand why they are not going to work with the WP Page Editor - I did forgot about the ECT "dynamics"

I'm not sure where you want it added but I see page-home.php listed under Appearance > Editor and then clicking on Home page Page template.

Where did it need to go there?

My apologies, but I am a little lost here...

I now see the page-home in Pages (draft) - what purpose is this page to serve? Other than it no more that a WP page (similar to the Sample page)

The page I created was Home as per the instructions accompanying the template you all sent to me -

Is this is the virtual of dynamic "Home" page that I have been customizing through the template.

just as an observation it seems this is the problem I was having.
Create an Home page -that in fact is not the home page that is shown
Perhaps the instructions could be modified to explain it a little better as there has been a couple of posts about this already.
While it may be fine for many there are a few who dont.

The homepage shown has to edited via theEditor and is not the HomePage the user creates.

Sorry for any confusion there - I'll see if we can make that clearer and thanks for pointing it out.
