I have a customer that would like to know if we can get the software to collect taxes down to the county level? They are asking about using an outside service that would auto update tax rate tables since there could be changes at any time when a county or state changes their rates? My head is spinning on this one.

This just seems to be a Major overhaul of the software. Has anyone ever had a request like this?

This particular client is a Fortune 500 subsidiary that has checks and balances at every step. I think they should just collect the taxes at the State level, like I have it setup now.

What are the rules for collecting taxes in the USA?

Any help or knowledge would be appreciated.

I believe the developer Mike Beebe, www.dlss.ca has done some work on collecting taxes at county level so it might be worth contacting him as the cart doesn't have that feature.
