Did you know that if you share a website page URL in a Social Media post, then Facebook, Twitter and Instagram algorythms will deliberately LOWER the visibility of your post in newsfeeds?

Why? According to Rand Fishkin, Co-founder of Moz, all the Social Media websites frown upon posts that send people off-site.

Hi Gary

Thanks for posting, it seems that posts reach so few people these days that you sometimes wonder if it's worth the effort.

Time is money, effort is time &, in my eyes, the amount of time & effort required to be wasted on social media returns is almost zero.

One quick hack to play the Facebook algorithm:

1. Create your engaging & shareable "play to the algorithm" post.

2. Post a link to your "off-site Content" in the comment section. This will almost always show up as the top comment because you are the original publisher of the post and Facebook assumes your comment is the most relevant.

3. Include a "Link in comment section" CTA at the end of your caption.

4. Include pictures/video with your website URL embedded on the picture. This should get around their “offsite links” penalty. (IMHO)

The CTR for the link in the comment section will be much lower than a post promoting a link to your site, but you will maintain your normal organic reach and drive more shares/engagement by posting Facebook-friendly content.
