Hi. I just installed a new WP cart (Gear). WP installed and working correctly. DB was created and changes made successfully. However when I go to log in to see the new store and change password, I get an error message saying the page isn't working. All pages get the same error, including the index page when the the Gear theme is selected.

Hi miccjones, can you ask your host to disable friendly error messages on the server so that you can see the underlying error that will display the page and line number. Most host allow this to be done via a .htaccess directive. Winners never quit, quitters never win CSS and Responsive DesignsUser Manual for Ecommerce Templates

I have put in the request. I do not know how long it will take. This is the third ECT cart I have run and have never had a problem with them before. However, this is the first WP one I have used. I thought maybe it could be a permissions issue, but I am not seeing it. It would seem that if the create db page worked to set up the store, the rest should work.

Hi miccjones, most host can do it pretty quickly. Creating the database just tells us that the db is setup correctly which is a very good thing but getting 500 generic error says there is something else going on under the hood with the scripts. Okay. I just made a new request. They replied to my request by telling me to use the automated WP install provided. They obviously did not understand what I was asking.

Yeah, you have no idea. I used to be a network admin years ago. It can be excruciating getting people to do things on a shared server that I know doesn't take a whole lot to do.
So, they have enabled wordpress error reporting, not the whole site. Sigh. However, I switched to a different theme, then tried to hit some of the pages. On products page, its says "No incfunctions.php file" Of course, that's the page using a different theme without the Gears coding. The store login page still says Error 500 page not working. I double checked that all files were uploaded, though. Does that help any? I fear I may never get exactly what I need from them. I can try t do a clean install, but if its a script problem, I don't think that will help.

Switched back to the Gears theme and received this error:
Parse error: syntax error, unexpected '[' in (my path)/vsadmin/inc/incfunctions.php on line 54

Andy, php version 5.3.29. Is that a problem? Is that a technical requirement I missed? This host is generally pretty up to date with features. Like I said, I've run other versions of the cart on this platform before. This is the first time having problems.

Highly unlikely, but I can ask. It's a shared host. I guess this is going to be a bust for me. The requirements listed on the website was php 5. So I thought I was good to go.

PHP 7 is the option to go for. PHP 5.6 active support ended in Jan 2017 but security support is available til 31.12.2018. I have two ECT sites (none Wordpress) running perfectly on PHP7.1.13 The official Wordpress recommended hosting requirements https://wordpress.org/about/requirements/Steve Bolton, Lancashire, United Kingdom. Using ECT PHP versions since 2004

At the very foot of the main admin screen the last section is debug info. It states the MySQL & PHP versions. It's worthwhile just checking what is listed there. I'm not au-fait with Wordpress but there could be a plugin / module / script causing the issue.

Hi you may need to ask the host for upper level support 503 is mostly due to one of the reasons listed here https://www.1and1.com/digitalguide/hosting/technical-matters/http-503-how-to-fix-website-errors/ by the way who is the host. Host is Serverpoint. Wasn't getting the 503 error until the php update. Everything was working fine expect for the cart before that. Now my whole website is offline for who knows how long.
