Hi,
I have used Dreamweaver for quite a few years now. The cost of Adobe CC is getting too expensive and I want to get opinions on moving to a different web dev app. I have the PHP responsive design in DWT and want to know how painful it will be to change to a different tool. I am reading that Microsoft Expression Web might be a good alternative. Any thoughts?
Thanks, Brad

I thought Dreamweaver was only available at the CC level. I would love to buy a CS5 for a descent price. Can you help me locate a source?

It is, but you might be able to pick up a used copy if you're careful. Here's that thread: https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=109018 Keep in mind that both the editors you mention are discontinued and have challenges with secure FTP. Dreamweaver prior to CS5.5 doesn't support it at all and neither Dreamweaver CS or Expression in any version can work with TLS v1.2, so as security standards march ever onward you might find you need a separate FTP client to actually transfer your files to/from your server. I use cs6 and love it. It does have its quirks. FTP within cs6 never an issue, but prefer filezilla or something similar...

Hi Keep in mind that if you switch from DW-CC to DW-CS there can be conflicts between the two versions. DW offers removal tool for CC even then it may not uninstall all the bits and pieces DW puts on computers. I'd recommend making a backup of the hard drive and registry prior to uninstalling CC just in case. It looks like DWcs6 does support TLS 1.2 https://forums.adobe.com/thread/2263811 EW4 has the same connection types. Actually neither Dreamweaver CS or MS Expression in any version support TLS v1.2. We have trialled both and it's not doable. How much that matters depends on the security posture of your host, you might just have to use a separate FTP client for file transfer if it does get to be an issue, some say that's more reliable anyway Peter ServeLink Professional ecommerce web hosting for ASP & PHP https://servelink.comTake a look at our image upload/resize tool for the ASP cart https://servelink.com/clients/cart?gid=7

For me, TLS 1.2 support is not important since I use CuteFTP for up/down loads. Mostly interested in either buying a copy of Dreamweaver CS5 or CS6 OR replacing with a different WYSIWYG tool that will manage the template.

It's easier finding Lord Lucan than a copy of DWCS6 !
I use DWCS6 but have always used FileZilla FTP for the up & downloading. The web host I use supports secure FTP & FileZilla supports TLS1.2

CuteFTP does now support TLS v1.2 as it happens, you need their version 9.2 that was released a month ago . I'm not a Windows user, but CuteFTP was always my favorite when I had to use it and I was happy to see it updated after five years of being abandoned. Works nicely. I have DW6 for Mac, like it and it's stable. I have found that it's terrible for FTP, so I use Fetch and Sublime Text to change code

agreed, use a different FTP for file transfers. I just got off the phone with Adobe, my copy is clean and ready to install- serial number is good to go. Simply would need to download the file from a link I have, unzip, load the program, and enter the serial number. Wouldnt even need my hard copy!
