Hi, I have received an 'ask a question' email from a customer on my website. When I try to reply, the customers email is not shown so I can't reply. Normally this is not an issue and I can reply OK. After some investigation, I found that it's because the customer has entered their details in the wrong boxes (I can tell this because the 'ask a question' field shows their question, when normally it is their name). So I assume they put their email in the wrong box too.
Is there a way to ensure the email is validated for format in some way before the form is submitted?
I have seen some other queries about this in the forums (being unable to reply to 'ask a question') and wonder if this could be an underlying reason? I tried the instructions here https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=109186&SearchTerms=ask+a+question to add email as an extra field, but then ended up with it duplicated. I think really we just need to validate that the email format is in a valid format, otherwise it probably gets dropped from the headers. I'm using phpmailer if that makes any difference, and have latest ECT version.
Thank you Ellen
