Hi, if it possible to set up shipping so there is a standard charge, say for uk, and then for purchases in areas outside the uk have to request quote?

Hi

I think the only way to do that would be to not offer other countries on checkout and in your shipping policy to ask overseas customers to contact you for shipping rates.

I thought of that but it would mean the shipping showing as free, and that's likely to cause confusion.

In the US we use Standard charges for Standard Shipping & Priority shipping using Postal Zones and using US as the Country. All international orders are directed to the USPS site and those rates are calculated based on the country being shipped to.

Thanks for those thoughts we'll give it some thought. I've simplified it and just set up with £10 shipping to UK mainland for now, set a free shipping discount for orders over £150 but it gives free shipping on all orders no matter what, logged in out, or any ideas whats causing it?

Can you check the values you have set in the admin discounts page and make sure you have set it restricted to certain countries and only UK checked for FSA in the admin countries page https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/shipping.asp#free

Do you have the weight set on your products?

Hi, no I don't. as it's a generic cost is it possible to go by price rather than weight?

Hi

You can use price based shipping https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/help/shipping.asp#price and you would need to set up the rules for the shipping cost in the admin zones page and then assign zones to countries in the admin countries page.

Sure, you probably have something like this in includes.php

$extracheckoutfield1="How did you hear about us?";
$extracheckoutfield1required=TRUE;
$extracheckoutfield1html="<select name=\"ectfield\" size=\"1\"><option value=\"Google\">Google</option><option value=\"Yahoo\">Yahoo</option></select>";

to add more choices...

$extracheckoutfield1html="<select name=\"ectfield\" size=\"1\"><option value=\"Google\">Google</option><option value=\"Yahoo\">Yahoo</option><option value=\"Bing\">Bing</option><option value=\"DuckDuckGo\">DuckDuckGo</option></select>";
