I have bulleted lists on almost all of my product descriptions and I need help with a spacing problem due to those lists.

This is the page these examples are from: https://www.equineaddicts.com/proddetail.asp?prod=Jody+Bergsma+Bear+T-shirt+%7C+Spirit+Bear

My meta description looks like this - all the extra spacing is where the list elements are:

My rich snippets description looks like this when I copy it from the structured data testing tool and paste it here:

Jody Bergsma designed bear dreamcatcher tee "Spirit Bear" by The Mountain Pre-Washed, pre-shrunk 100% cotton tees Hand-dyed and printed in the USA Earth-friendly organic dyes and non-toxic water-based ink

My rich snippets description looks like this in the structured data testing tool output with the list elements being crammed against other text:

I am concerned about both the meta description extra spacing which I assume counts against the recommended number of characters and where search will cut it off, and also how it's going to look in Google Snippets. Any suggestions much appreciated!

Thanks!
Jan

P.S. - can anyone tell me why posting image links makes them 5 times the size the original is???

Hi Jan, it would probably be better to use the meta description box in the product admin to customize the descriptions, proddetail.asp meta description tag. You can use the csv file to populate the field by adding descriptions to the pMetaDesc column in the csv.

https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/seo/dynamic-title-meta-asp.asp
quote:
That is what will appear on proddetail.asp. If you are not using that feature, the product description will be used instead.

The images posted will display at their full size.

Hi,

I have over 2,000 products and using the csv upload file by copying the description over to the optional meta description field would include the formatting tags.

I suppose I could take out the lists and just make it a paragraph but again...lots of products to change for a jack-of-all-trades with no help.

Thanks.

P.S. - I double-checked that my browser was set at 100% and checked against the original images and they are at least half-again as large as the original.

Hi Jan,
If you send me your inventory.csv file I'll remove the html for you, it won't take me a minute.

Thank you so much for the offer Phil, but your post reminded me I can manipulate the csv file in Excel with find/replace.
