Hello,

According to php7Mar (https://github.com/Alexia/php7mar), my site, which is now running ECT 6.9.0, has many incompatibilities. I am copying them below.

In addition, I suggest that, in the updaters, you include the updated files include.php and db_conn_open.php, along with instructions on replacing the default code in these files the customer's individual modifications. I saw nothing in the video or other instructions with the updaters telling customers that these changes need to be made. One should not have to search through the forums to find out that these files need to be changed.

First of all I'd run the updater again.

There's no point including the db_conn_open.php file as that file contains the database connection details. Neither is there any need to include the includes.php file as that is where your websites features / settings are enabled, disabled.

In 13+ years of using ECT I've never had an issue with an updater on the sites I own and the others I maintain.

Hi

I edited your post and took a copy of your examples.

6.9 is PHP 7 compatible and requires a minimum of PHP5.6 so we have to allow for anything in between.

We can't include db_conn_open.php in the updater as it would overwrite your database settings and your cart would stop working. Similarly we can't include includes.php as it contains the personal settings for each store.

We have a sticky topic here regarding PHP 7 https://www.ecommercetemplates.com/support/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=107737 and we have also highlighted any changes in newsletters, most recently just this week. These however would only be for older stores purchased well before those changes were required.

This is pretty much spot on. What you are seeing is that the code is totally PHP7 ready, but we also provide support for versions prior to PHP7. So this php7Mar is just picking up on the alternate code which you won't be using.
